Maoists gun down three villagers in West Bengal

Kolkata: Three persons were shot dead and one other injured when suspected Maoists opened fire at the marketplace at Rameshwarpur village in West Bengal's West Midnapore district on Sunday.

The victims are believed to be villagers who were sitting at a teashop in the marketplace when the Maoists opened fire.

One of the injured has been brought to the Midnapore hospital.

Police said a group of Maoists appeared suddenly and fired at those people from a close range.

While three of them died on the spot, the third person was injured seriously.
