Koraput: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed, and another was injured when a landmine planted by Maoists exploded on a forest road in Narayanpatna in Odisha's Koraput district on Saturday.
The blast took place when a group of BSF jawans was walking down the forest in Laxmipur area after conducting combing operation nearby, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer Y Jagannath Rao. One of them apparently stepped on the landmine which went off.
BSF jawan Xavier Kindo died on the spot, and his colleague Dhiren Sahu sustained injuries in the explosion. Both were members of a unit of the BSF stationed at Palur in Koraput.
