Panaji:
Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva was sworn-in today as the Governor of Goa at a function at Raj Bhavan in Panaji.
Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Mohit Shah administered the oath of office to Ms Alva this evening in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, ministers and legislators.
The warrant of appointment was read by chief secretary B Vijayan.
Goa Congress chief John Fernandes was also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Ms Alva had been earlier 'Goa desk in-charge' of Congress.
She was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1974 to 1998, and of the Lok Sabha from 1999 to 2004.
She has served as a Union minister and as a general secretary of Congress. In 2009, she was appointed the Governor of Uttarakhand, and then transferred to Rajasthan in 2012.
