Massive Fire Breaks Out in J&K's Pahalgam; No Casualties Reported
Pahalgam: Locals and fire fighters try to douse flames from Hotels and shops during a major fire in which dozens of hotels and shopping malls were gutted, at Famous Tourist Resort in Pahalgam 90 kms from Srinagar on Monday evening.
Pahalgam: A massive fire has broken out in Pahalgam, a small town in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The blaze has engulfed a tourist reception centre and adjoining hotels in the local market area, considered a hot-spot for tourists.

No casualties have been reported as yet.

Rescue operations are underway with officials trying to control the fire from spreading to nearby areas.

"A fire has broken out in Pahalgam & has engulfed the Tourist Reception Centre & Hotel Poornima. I've been told both buildings evacuated (sic)" tweeted J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

"Fire brigade on the scene but strong winds have increased the risk of the fire spreading. The situation is being monitored & tackled (sic)" he said in another tweet.

The exact reason for the blaze has not yet been ascertained.
