Massive search operation for Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister

Itanagar: A helicopter carrying Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and four other people, which went missing on Saturday morning, has still not been found.

Massive search operations are on to locate the missing chopper:

  • Defence sources have told NDTV that one IAF helicopter based in Tawang is making sorties to search the missing chopper
  • One Sukhoi-30 aircraft has managed to take off from Tezpur. It has powerful radars that can locate objects even through thick foliage.
  • 30 Indian Army columns (each column includes about 80 personnel) are out in different directions on ground
  • The ground search has been launched from Tawang and Tenga towards Seppa and around the Sela Pass
  • Army aviation and Air Force helicopters from Tezpur and Missmari are not able to take off because of bad weather. They are on standby
  • Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has also been roped in for help in locating the whereabouts of the missing helicopter
