Two died and over a dozen commuters were reportedly injured as nearly 40 vehicles met with an accident due to low visibility caused by dense fog in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr. Visuals showed several loaded trucks and cars piled up on the road - some with severe damages and shattered glass pieces all around.
The injured were rescued by the police and rushed to nearby hospitals after the accident occurred on the Dussehra flyover in Arnia. One of the dead was a truck driver whose body has been sent for post-mortem, said police.
The northern states, including national capital Delhi, woke up to a dense fog this morning, with the Delhi airport tweeting a fog alert. However, flight operations remain unaffected, news agency PTI cited an official as saying.
Visibility data and satellite imagery show that dense to very dense layer of fog lies mainly over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, North Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, said the weather department.
