New Delhi : Printing materials to make over 2,000 pirated copies of expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh's book on Mohammad Ali Jinnah have been seized by the Mumbai police in searches conducted at various places in the western metropolis.
Rupa and Company, the publishers of the book "Jinnah: India, Partition, Independence", had complained to the Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore police that pirated versions of the book had hit the market.
"We had complained to all the three city police about the rampant piracy of the book," Rupa and Company, Chairman, R K Mehra said.
He said searches were carried out by a team, led by DCP (Enforcement), Mumbai police, Sheila Sail, at various locations in the Maharashtra's capital and 26 gunny bags of sheets to be bused for illegal printing were seized, along with the book's plates, from a press.
The police have also seized all the printing equipment at the press and arrested four persons, he said. However, the distributor is still absconding.
The publisher's advocate Jyoti Taneja said the police have also seized pirated books of some other publishers.
