Mauritius President Kailash Purryag will later this month visit Punjab where he will attend the convocation of a leading private university near Jalandhar city.
A senior functionary of the Jalandhar-based Lovely Professional University (LPU) said on Thursday that the Mauritian president will be the chief guest at the fourth convocation ceremony of the university to be held on April 20 and 21.
LPU will also bestow 'honoris causa' doctorate degree on President Purryag, said LPU chancellor Ashok Mittal.
Mittal said LPU had the honour of hosting two presidents, President Pranab Mukherjee and (then) Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, at its convocation in 2013 in Jalandhar.
LPU, which has one of the largest campuses among private universities in the country, has over 30,000 students on its rolls. It is located close to the industrial town of Phagwara near Jalandhar.
