The mid and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh had some relief from cold wave as maximum temperatures rose by few notches while cold wave abated in tribal areas due to marginal rise in mercury.
Una recorded maximum day temperature at 25.4 degrees and Solan and Sundernagar recorded a high of 24.5 degrees and 24 degrees while Shimla registered maximum day temperature at 18.5 degrees Celsius.
Bhuntar and Nahan were warmer with a high of 22 degrees and 21 degrees while Kalpa and Keylong in tribal Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts recorded maximum temperatures at 14.4 degrees and 7.6 degrees Celsius, six to seven degree above normal.
The minimum temperatures also rose marginally and Shimla was warmer than most other towns in Himachal Pradesh, Dehradun and Hisar with minimum temperature at 8 degrees Celsius while Kalpa recorded a low of zero degree, five degrees below normal.
The minimum temperature stayed at minus 6.1 degrees at Keylong and rose to 10.5 degrees in Nahan while it settled at minus 1.4 degrees, 2.4 degrees, 3.5 degrees and 3.7 degrees Celsius at Manali, Bhuntar, Sundernagar and Solan.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region upto January 3 and rains or snow at isolated places in mid and higher hills in the region on January 4.
