Metro mishap in Delhi; 12 labourers injured

New Delhi: In yet another accident at the Metro rail construction site in New Delhi, two cranes overturned at Mehrauli Metro site on Saturday.

Seventeen people, including 12 labourers, were reportedly injured in the incident.

Two out of the 15 injured in the Metro crane are believed to be in a serious condition.

Giving details about the incident, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson Anuj Dayal said, "The incident happened at around 12.15 pm at the under construction site of Metro in Saket with in the barricaded area. It appears to be a mechanical failure of the crane. One crane was lifting another crane, which overturned."

He also said that the crane belongs to Larsen & Toubro company, but denied reports that anyone has been injured.

These cranes were on the job at Saiad-ul-Ajaib Metro station in Mehrauli, near Garden of Five Senses.
