Minimum Government, Maximum Governance, Says Arun Jaitley on Cabinet Expansion: Highlights

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley responds to Congress's allegations on Cabinet expansion. Here are the highlights:

  • The PM has the last word in the government.
  • It may be natural that politicians have cases against them which are political in nature but there should be no moral turpitude
  • In UP, the Akhilesh Yadav government has filed cases against all BJP workers - and case against Dr Katheria is political in nature
  • The entire charge of the Congress party is baseless -- in the UPA, the PM didn't have the last word in formation or expansion of the cabinet
  • In the NDA the trend is completely different, PM has the last word and he takes a decision taking into consideration all facts
  • It seems Congress is not left with political issues
  • Who should be taken into Cabinet is prerogative of the prime minister
  • Please don't read too much into it. People from all political groups in Kashmir come to the Centre -- has the chief minister not come to meet the PM, or haven't PDP leaders met him? In politics, you have to meet political opponents too
  • On Shiv Sena: Some problems will find their own solutions
  • There is no case against Giriraj Singh. These unfounded allegations were not expected from a responsible opposition.
  • UPA ran a non performing government.
  • Congress should confine itself to quality of poor governance that it gave and restrict itself to that
  • Minimum government, maximum governance
