Minnal Murali is the story of a tailor who gains special powers after being struck by lightning
Minnal Murali, the superhero of the Malayalam film of the same name, has now been featured in an exam question paper by an engineering college in Kerala. Kothamangalam's Mar Athanasius College has taken reference from the lead character, played by Tovino Thomas in the film, for the "Mechanics of Fluids" examination. The paper was for 50 marks.
The pictures of the examination paper for semester three students were shared by the film's director, Basil Joseph, on Facebook. Mr Joseph had quit engineering to make a career in movies.
The first line of the question read, “Welcome to the village Kurukanmoola, where the superhero Minnal Murali resides.” And, unlike in the movie, Minnal Murali also ran into Aqua-Man, another superhero, while surfing in Miami beach.
A disclaimer is also placed on top of the paper. It goes like this, “The story, all names, characters and incidents portrayed in this question paper are fictitious. No identification with actual persons, places, buildings and products is intended or should be inferred”. It goes on to wish “all the best” to candidates and asks them to “enjoy (the) examination”, allowing them to criticise the question paper later.

Dr Kurian John, who prepared the questionnaire, said he referenced the movie plot in preparing the questions because he wanted to ease the burden on students. "Exams are stressful, so I wanted to ease that a bit," Dr John told Onmanorama. A PhD from IIT Madras, Dr John believes in making learning fun.
