Sitapur:
A minor girl whose body was found hanging from a tree on Tuesday was not raped and strangled but had allegedly committed suicide, police said today.
According to Superintendent of Police, Tehsildar Singh the postmortem report has confirmed that the 15-year-old girl, was not raped and strangled but died by hanging.
The girl had committed suicide and the reasons for the same were being probed, he said.
The body of the girl, missing from her house in Benipur village since June 2 night was found hanging from a tree in Misrikh area on June 3.
A complaint in this connection was registered by the victim's father against six people including his neighbour and his three sons, following which an FIR was lodged against them under IPC 302 (murder).
