Jodhpur:
The police in Jodhpur have received an anonymous note that claims Bhanwari Devi, a midwife and nurse missing for weeks, is being kept hostage by a politician in Haryana.
Bhanwari Devi disappeared near Jodhpur in Rajasthan five weeks ago, amid reports that she had a CD that proved she was having an affair with Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna. The minister has since been charged with rape and murder.
The police have yet to interrogate Mr Maderna, whose alleged involvement in the case has embarrassed the Congress government in Rajasthan, which is headed by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The police refuse to share details of the unsigned note that could lead to new developments in their inquiry.
Bhanwari Devi's husband, Amarchand Nat, says Mr Maderna is to blame for her disappearance.
