Patna:
The Bihar government today handed over BJP MLA Raj Kishore Kesri's murder case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The development came after Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi wrote to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to order a CBI inquiry into the case. (Read: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister for CBI probe)
Opposition parties including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have also been demanding for a probe by the central investigating agency into the Kesri's death.
Kesri, who was the MLA from Purnia was stabbed by Rupam Pathak to death in full public view on January 4.
Pathak had earlier lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against Keshri. She, however, had withdrawn the charge later.
