MLA stabbing case: No evidence of blackmail, says Bihar Police
Purnea: The Bihar police is trying to piece together what motivated Rupam Pathak, the woman teacher, to stab Raj Kishore Kesri, a four-time MLA, to death in full public gaze in Purnea yesterday.

The teacher had earlier accused the politician of raping her - a charge which she later withdrew.

The DIG of Bihar Police has told NDTV there is no evidence that Rupam withdrew the complaint under pressure from the MLA, and that there is no evidence that she blackmailed the MLA.

He also says the Rupam said she withdrew her complaint due to family pressure.

Rupam is now in hospital in critical condition after she was assaulted by Kesri's bodyguards as well as members of the public.
