Mob attacks a train in Surat, leaves three critically injured

Surat: Three critical and many injured after the S-6 coach of the Okha- Puri Express was attacked by over 30 people near Surat railway station. The incident took place this morning near Utkalnagar area, when a few people on the train pulled the chain and stopped the train.
      
 According to the police, as soon as the train stopped, a mob of 30 odd people entered the
compartment. When the passengers of the coach tried to stop them from entering, they were beaten up causing severe injuries to three, while many others sustained minor injuries. Later, the passengers told the police that, a few from mob entered the toilet of the compartment and took away two big packets of what appeared to be white powder and ran away.
      
The injured were shifted to the Bharuch district hospital immediately. Doctors say that, there condition is still critical.

Angry over the incident, passengers forced the train to stop for over two hours at the Barauch station. Only after the Railway police intervened and assured immediate action, the train left for its destination.

The Railway police have registered a case and further probe is on.
