Mob justice in Bihar: Rowdies killed in broad daylight

Madhepura: Bihar continues with its tradition of mob justice. In a brazen act, villagers of Madhepura district lynched two men, known to be rowdies, under the broad daylight. Incidentally, the duo is said to have had a past criminal record and were habitual offenders, confirmed Varun Kumar Sinha, Superintendent of police. This afternoon, while the two men were allegedly trying to extort money from the local shop owners, villagers caught them in the act and beat them to death.

These men were also wanted by the police of Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Khagria and Madhepura in several cases pertaining to dacoity, road blockade, kidnapping, and extortion. While the bodies are now sent for post-mortem, the police have not registered any case yet. They seem to be in confusion about the charges to be framed.

Cases of mob justice are not new to Bihar. The recent one being just a fortnight back when five alleged thieves were lynched in Samastipur by a mob. Similar incidences have happened in the past and the count has only increased over the course of time.
