In the Kadwal village of Vadodara, an angry mob lynched three suspected thieves to death outside a police post. In fact, when the police reached the spot, the irate mob resorted to violence and also attacked to the police.
Shockingly, the three lay in pool of blood even as the policemen who reached the spot looked on as mute spectators.
"When we reached, the pulse was missing. They were already dead," said Dr Y Shukla, government doctor.
The police have registered a murder case against 3000 villagers, but the villagers say it is the inaction of police that prompted them to take law into their hands.
"The cops are responsible for this. They have not been attending to our complaints despite increase in burglary cases. We have been demanding increase in police presence here," said Shankarbhai, a local resident.
With this incident, the image of Vadodara police has taken a beating. Last week, a BSF jawan had died in custody following which a murder case was registered against 10 policemen.
