Jaipur:
Asserting that Modi government has given top priority to ensuring secure borders and tackling terrorism, BJP president Amit Shah today said there is "zero tolerance" policy and it has deterred incidents like beheading of soldier Hemraj by Pakistani troops in 2013.
Addressing a rally on the second anniversary of Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan at Janpath in Jaipur, he said the NDA government is also moving faster than its predecessors on addressing farmers' issues, changes for economic growth and other areas.
"On the issue of national security, Modi government has put on priority both terrorism and border security by adopting zero tolerance policy," he said
"Aaj kisi ki himmat nahin hai ke bhai Hemraj ki tarah sena ke jawan ka sir kaat kar lejaye (No one can dare to decapitate an army man like our brother Hemraj)," he said.
Lance Naik Hemraj was killed and beheaded by Pakistani soldiers on January 8, 2013 in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Modi government has clearly adopted zero tolerance on issues of terrorism and on border security," he added.
On the issue of farmers, he said that since independence no government could implement schemes to provide them security.
But Modi government has changed rules and relaxed norms of compensation to farmers.
"Earlier, if there was any natural calamity or disaster, the farmers only had the God above and their land, there was no relief for farmers. But now calamity affected farmers can get compensation if 33 per cent crop is damaged," he said.
Soil Health Card, launched in Rajasthan last year, and PM Irrigation scheme have shown that the Modi government has focussed on farmers' issues and grievances in a way no previous government did, he claimed.
Mudra Banking was another milestone of the Modi government as poor youths willing to set up their own enterprise could get bank loan on low interest rate without any guarantee, Mr Shah said.
Skill India, Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, Digital India, Jan Dhan Yojana and changes for economic growth were other areas where Modi government has moved faster than any other previous government, he claimed.
