Ahmedabad:
The Gujarat government has decided to challenge the report which held that the state police force had murdered Ishrat Jahan and three others in a fake encounter.
There has been a reaction from the family of another victim. The family of Javed Shaikh alias Pranesh Pillai has filed a petition in the Gujarat high court seeking a CBI probe in the encounter case.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will on Wednesday take up the case of Sohrabuddin and his wife Kauser Bi's fake encounter.
In the last hearing, the apex court had directed the Gujarat government to pay Rs 10 lakh as interim compensation to Sohrabuddin's family.
At that time, the Supreme Court had asked the Gujarat government if it was willing to allow this case to be probed by the Special Investigation Team which is investigating the 2002 riot cases.
The Gujarat government is opposing it.
