The 10th World Hindi Summit that begins on Thursday in the Madhya Pradesh capital, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The "Vishwa Hindi Sammelan" that will conclude on September 12 will also be attended by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
The Lal Parade Ground has been named Makhanlal Chaturvedi Nagar after the noted Hindi journalist, while the main venue has been named after writer Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Minister of State for External Affairs Gen. V.K. Singh (retd), and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be present during the inauguration.
Being organised by the external affairs ministry, the summit will see participants brainstorming over methods to strengthen the spread of Hindi language apart from evaluating the efforts already underway and improvement in this direction.
Experts on Hindi will be honoured during the concluding function, to be attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Over 5,000 people from across India and abroad are expected to participate.
