Monsoon Aggravates over Eastern Rajasthan, West Remains Dry

Jaipur: Barring western districts of the state, the southwest monsoon has aggravated over Rajasthan with Gangapur recording the maximum rainfall of 13 centimetres since last evening.

According to a MeT report here today, moderate to heavy rainfall occurred in Ajmer, Jaipur, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Jodhpur and Kota districts of the state, while the weather in the western districts of Jaisalmer and Barmer was dry.

Jaipur and Kota recorded 10 centimetres and 12 centimetres of rainfall respectively till 5:30 pm today.

The MeT office said Bhinay recorded rainfall of 9 centimetres, followed by Sawaimadhopur 8 centimetres; Chikali, Bharatpur, Nathdwara and Merta City 6 centimetres each; Shergarh, Bagidora, Bonli and Lalsot 5 centimetres each; Hindoli, Bamanwas, Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Dholpur, Khajuwala and Chaksu 4 centimetres each.

Several other areas of the state received rainfall measuring one to three centimetres.

Heavy rains would occur at isolated places in eastern Rajasthan during the next 48 hours, according to a MeT forecast.

With rains eluding the districts of Barmer and Jaisalmer, both recorded maximum temperatures of 36.4 and 36.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
