Chandigarh: Pre-monsoon showers today lashed areas of north-west region, including Haryana, with monsoon entering some parts of Punjab, leading to fall in mercury in the twin states.
Light to moderate rains lashed many parts of Punjab and Haryana today bringing a drop in day temperatures considerably, the Met office in Chandigarh said.
Meanwhile, the humidity levels rose sharply in Punjab and Haryana as at several places it was upto 100 per cent, the MeT said.
"In the next 48 hours the monsoon will further advance in Punjab and Haryana as both the states are likely to receive rainfall," he said.
Agriculture experts describe these showers as highly beneficial for the on-going paddy transplantation going on in the two agrarian states.
Among other places, Patiala got 16.2 mm of rainfall, Chandigarh 9.6 mm, Ludhiana 3 mm and Amritsar 0.8 mm, the MeT office said.
