Moral responsibility for N Srinivasan to step down as BCCI chief: Lalit Modi

London: Gurunath Meiyappan, whose father-in-law N Srinivasan heads cricket's most powerful body in India, has been indicted for illegal betting in last year's Indian Premier League. Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi came down heavily on Mr Srinivasan and asked for his resignation.

Highlights:

  • I think Mr Srinivasan has to step down, it's his son-in-law.
  • We know nothing in BCCI, IPL happens without his direct say.
  • Every department has a head which directly reports to him.
  • Mr Srinivasan has always known what is happening, should be sacked unceremoniously.
  • Like Rahul Mehra (lawyer) said it's top down, I say directly he is involved.
  • People supporting him are guilty by association.
  • It is very convenient to put it on son-in-law, buck stops with Srinivasan.
  • For me to believe that he didn't know is out of question.
  • Not a single player is voicing his actual opinion.
  • This is just the tip of iceberg.
  • If you have a person sitting on top he is going to use system for his own benefit.
  • Rules are very clear: team has to go, team must be terminated.
  • There is no ambiguity in clause. Team should be terminated on all counts.
  • Don't want to comment (on other players), don't want to pre-empt.
  • What he (Srinivasan) is doing is apparent.
  • Yes, I have an axe to grind with him.
  • He allows fixing to happen.
  • When he says zero tolerance, it's crap.
  • IPL Governing council should be disbanded.
  • Mr Sundar Raman should be fired right away.
  • There is no ambiguity in the report.
  • BCCI doesn't operate without the knowledge of Srinivasan, he is hampering investigation.
  • Srinivasan wants to be the Czar of the world, he want to control everything. Why? Because he lets fixing go on.
  • Not match-fixing anymore. It's spot-fixing and it has seeped into every aspect of the game.
  • (On coming back to India) Very soon, waiting for national elections. Hope my security issues are sorted out.
