Puttaparthi: More gold has been found at Yajur Temple in Puttaparthi, the personal chambers of late Shri Sathya Sai Baba. As four more rooms of the temple were opened on Saturday, Rs 77 lakh worth of gold, silver and a diamond ring were found.
Earlier on June 17, a massive 12 crores in cash, 98 kg of gold and 300 kg of silver were found from the ashram. The millions were found by Trust members when they opened Sai Baba's chambers after his death.
The Trust enjoys several exemptions from the state government and there are now demands that the government must withdraw those privileges and intervene on behalf of the devotees.
But controversy erupted after the police in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district seized Rs 35.5 lakh from a car belonging to the Sathya Sai Central Trust and arrested one person identified as Harishnanda Shetty. A trust official V Srinivasan was believed to have given him the money.
The Andhra Pradesh government has asked the Sathya Sai Baba Trust to explain if cash is being smuggled out of the chambers used by the religious and spiritual leader while he was alive and has asked for a factual report from the Trust.
The spiritual and religious guru of millions died on April 24.
Sai Baba's chambers were locked up after he fell ill in late March and was moved to a local hospital.
