Mumbai: More leads into terror suspect David Headley's Mumbai connection. Police sources say Headley who first came to Mumbai in November 2006 flew out of the city at least four times between May 2007 and April 2008.

  • November 2006: Headley first travelled to Mumbai
  • May 2007 to April 2008: Headley flew out of Mumbai four times
The flight details, now available in part, shows three of these trips were to Karachi, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

  • May 17, 2007: PK275 (Mumbai-Karachi)
  • June 7, 2007: EK507 (Mumbai-Dubai)
  • October 9, 2007: EY205 (Mumbai-Abu Dhabi)
He took a fourth flight out of the city on April 15, destination still not confirmed which is seven months before the 26/11 terror attack.

  • April 15, 2008: Flew out of Mumbai
"Headley visited India several times before 26/11. We will need to investigate if there is a link," said P Chidambaram, Union Home Minister.

The home minister also spoke on the intelligence team not interrogating Headley.

"Indian team didn't quiz Headley as it wasn't on agenda," Chidambaram added.

Police say his accomplice Tahawwur Hussain Rana came from Dubai to Mumbai on November 12 and went back on November 21, which is less than a week before the terror attacks.

  • November 12, 2008: Rana flew in on EK 500 (Dubai-Mumbai)
  • November 21, 2008: Rana flew out on EK 505 (Mumbai-Dubai)
Then, Headley was seen in Mumbai in March 2009 nearly four months after the attack.

  • March 2009: Headley spotted in Mumbai last
Security agencies say that both Rana and Headley must have had more than one passport. They must have used different passports to travel to India and Pakistan. And in any case as they were both born in Pakistan they were allowed to hold dual citizenship which must have helped them evade notice in India.

Both were born in Pakistan and hence had Pakistani passports.

To travel to other countries, Headley possibly used his American passport and Rana his Canadian passport.
