Sources in the government tell NDTV that Indians in Afghanistan will officially be warned soon about being targeted in future attacks.
The advisory will specify that the government cannot protect Indian companies and citizens working or living privately in Afghanistan. There are currently 4000 citizens who fall into this category.
Recently, the Taliban claimed responsibility for a gigantic suicide attack which targeted Indian army doctors and embassy officials in Kabul. A Guest house where the Indian medical mission was staying was blown up. Seven Indians were killed in the attack. (Read: Indians were target of Kabul suicide attack ! Sources say that the government has identified a new location to house its officials in Kabul, and that additional troops are being sent to Afghanistan to protect this location.
Sources add that after a detailed review, security at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu is also being increased because of a new threat by the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
