Further encouraging HIV testing, the NLFA urged HIV-positive persons to come forward without the fear of being stigmatized and discriminated.
Kohima:
The Nagaland Legislators Forum on AIDS, (NLFA) has decided to target younger age group and institutions for sensitization with appropriate reading materials on combating HIV and AIDS.
The resolution was adopted during the Annual General Meeting of the Forum held in the Assembly Secretariat yesterday under the convenorship of Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo with Chief Minister TR Zeliang as chief patron.
Deliberating on various issues and challenges paused by HIV/AIDS, the members decided that NLFA would continue its support with the contribution of the elected members.
It was also decided that one time grant of Rs 5-10 crore would be set aside from common pool as fixed deposit for a certain period in banks, while the interest could be used to sustain church initiatives tied up with NLFA.
It was also decided that all churches should have core-group in their own organisation so that activities could be carried out through them in a uniform manner.
Further encouraging HIV testing, the NLFA urged HIV-positive persons to come forward without the fear of being stigmatized and discriminated.
