New Delhi: Ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris next week, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said today that too many restrictions on carbon emission would curb India's competitive strength.

"Too many restrictions on carbon emissions will curb India's competitive strength. The developed world must provide access to low-cost finance and technology to developing nations for climate action," he tweeted.

The minister also urged business leaders "also to become influencers to push India's climate action plan".

The UN Climate Change Conference in Paris (COP21) is slated to be held from November 30 to December 11.

Earlier in the day, he also tweeted about achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target of replacing all incandescent bulbs with LEDs in three years under the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP).

Mr Goyal, who on Wednesday noted the need for correcting the retail market price of light emitting diode (LED) bulbs and suggested industry look for more innovative retail platforms in order to make it more affordable for people, had also said the success of the programme will strengthen India's stand in the Paris talks and present India as a responsible nation.
