Mumbai-Howrah Train Accident:

Two people were killed and 20 others injured after at least 18 coaches of a train bound for Mumbai derailed in Jharkhand this morning.

Train number 12810, Howrah-Mumbai Mail, derailed at around 3.45 am near Badabamboo, under the Chakradharpur Division of the South Eastern Railway.

Of the 18 coaches that derailed in the Jharkhand train accident, 16 were passenger coaches, one power car, and one pantry car, an official said.

Rescue and relief operations are underway, officials said.

Jharkhand Train Derailment: 5 Trains Cancelled
Due to derailment of train number 12810, the Howrah-Mumbai mail, five trains have been cancelled and four others short terminated/short originated, the South Eastern Railway said in a statement.

Jharkhand Train Derailment: Several Train Services Hit
An official said three trains -- 22861 Howrah to Kantabaji Express, 08015 and 18019 Kharagpur to Dhanbad Express and 12021-12022 Howrah Barbel Express -- have been cancelled following the train accident in Jharkhand. 

Train services were also hit on some other routes.

18114 Bilaspur to Tata Express have been short-terminated at Rourkela, 18190 Ernakulam to Tata Express has been short-terminated at Chakradarpur and 18011 Howda Chakradhurpur Express has been short-terminated at Adra, the official told the news agency ANI.

Mumbai-Howrah Train Accident: Reason For Derailment Being Probed
An official said the exact reason for the Mumbai-Howrah derailment is being ascertained.

The injured were given first aid by the Railways' medical team, officials said, adding that they have now been taken to Chakradharpur for better treatment.
