Mumbai: Income Tax raids on CWG event company
Mumbai: The Income Tax department on Thursday conducted searches at the business premises of leading event management company Wizcraft International in Mumbai.

Income Tax sources said the searches began in the afternoon to check possible instances of tax evasion.

The searches come in the backdrop of a multi-agency probe into alleged corruption in the run-up to the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The company had organised the opening and closing ceremony of the Games held from October 3-14 last year.

Sources said the team of I-T officials scanned through a number of documents at the premises of the firm. When contacted, Wizcraft founder Director Sabbas Joseph said in an SMS to PTI, "I can only confirm that searches have been conducted. Nothing of any significance that one can share."

Anmod Sharma, non-executive (Independent) Director of the firm said, "We don't have anything to hide. We organized the Commonwealth ceremony splendidly."
