Mumbai Mayoral poll: Cong-NCP or Sena-BJP?

Mumbai: As the BMC readies to elect its second consecutive woman Mayor on Tuesday, the Samajwadi Party announced that it would refrain from voting, while Raj Thackeray-led MNS is also likely to abstain during the Mayoral election.

"The six corporators of MNS would not be participating in the voting for the mayor's post," MNS sources said. The party would declare its official decision by Tuesday," they added.

Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi said "we cannot go with Shiv Sena-BJP alliance and Congress has betrayed us, so we would prefer abstaining the polls".

In the 228-member House, Shiv Sena has 81 corporators, BJP 29, Akhil Bharatiya Sena 2 and 3 Independents. Congress has 77, Nationalist Congress Party 14, Samajwadi Party 7, and RPI 3.
