Mumbai:
The Mumbai police have released an official advisory for residents of the city, warning that four members of the Lashkar-e-Toiba have entered the city. They have been assigned by the terror group to carry out attacks during the festive season.
"The four persons are in the age group of 20 to 30 years," Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy said. "The four persons are planning violent attacks that is going to cause destruction," he warned.
The information of the plans by the terrorists are "fairly specific", Roy said, adding "We believe the threat is serious."
Earlier this week, both Mumbai and Ahmedabad were put on high alert by the union government after it received specific intelligence alerts about potential Lashkar attacks. Security was increased near churches, hospitals and the Police Headquarters in Mumbai. (Read: Terror alert for Mumbai and Ahmedabad)
The Lashkar men who're believed to now be in Mumbai are Abdul Karim Mussa, Noor Abdul Ilahi, Whalid Jinnah, and Mafooz Alam. The police has released a sketch of Jinnah.
The police wants anyone with any information on these men to call 22633333.
The Joint Police Commissioner also said that Mumbai police has formed Special cells in a bid to "neutralise" the four terrorists. He did not want to speculate whether more than four LeT men have entered the metropolis which witnessed the country's worst ever terror strike in November 2008 killing 166 people.
