Mumbai:
Top officers of the Mumbai Police today made a presentation before the Supreme Court-appointed Indian Premier League (IPL) probe panel to look into allegations of betting and spot fixing.
After the presentation, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy said, "We have made a presentation and submitted the evidence. There is a possibility of another meeting in the near future."
The Mumbai Police had arrested the son-in-law of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President N Srinivasan, earlier this year, for passing on insider information on his team to bookies and placing bets on matches in the IPL.
Sources have told NDTV that the Mumbai Police told the panel how letters and emails to Gurunath Meiyappan from the BCCI addressed him as team owner/principal. The police told the panel how Mr Meiyappan was sharing inside information and how his team lost the May 12 Chennai Super Kings versus Rajasthan Royals match.
Transcripts of Mr Meiyappan's and Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf's conversation have been submitted to the panel.
Sources add, the 150-slide powerpoint presentation and the discussion lasted two and half hours. During the session, the Mumbai Police also elaborated on how Mr Rauf spoke to bookies and took gifts from them.
