Mumbai rain: A blessing in disguise

Mumbai rain: A blessing in disguise
Mumbai: Blocked roads and stranded commuters aside, Tuesday's downpour was good news for a city which till Monday was water starved - reeling under a 30 per cent water cut.

Now the lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai are filling up. All six lakes supplying water to the city have crossed their drawable limits.

The maximum rainfall of 238 mm was received by Vihar Lake.

And this is a reason why in the middle of the chaos, Mumbaikars were also a little relieved.

The municipality says, it's still too early to revoke the city's water cut. Mumbai's lakes right now can supply water for 60 days.

Usually by this time, the lake storage is around 90 to 100 days. Yet the city's water crisis is clearly on its way out.
