Mumbai: It has been one of the biggest seizures by the Mumbai Police since the 1993 serial blasts.
The Mumbai Police's Crime Branch on Thursday seized over 900 rounds of live ammunition used for a variety of pistols.
The recovery from a man called Makshood Sayeed, who was carrying the ammunition into the city.
Says Ashok Dhuraphe, ACP, Crime Branch: "The ammunation we have found could be used in a .300, .375 , .32 pistols."
The last time such a large number of cartridges were found was in 2007 when the Crime Branch had seized about 900 cartridges from the JNPT port area.
The police are now trying to find the men Sayeed was transporting the consignment for and to who he was to deliver it to.
