Ms Ahmed weighed 500 kilos when she arrived in Mumbai where doctors had a special room built to accommodate her.
Doctors say she now weighs 171 kilos after undergoing a bariatric surgery, essentially a stomach-shrinking bypass procedure carried out on those wanting to lose excessive weight.
Doctors put her on a special liquid diet to get her weight down to a low enough level for doctors to perform the bariatric surgery.
But her sister, Shaimaa Selim, said in a video posted on social media that the Mumbai doctors are lying and that the medical care received by Ms Ahmed is sub-par.
As they left the hospital today, in an attempt to end the controversy, Ms Ahmed's sister said she wanted to thank the staff that looked after the Egyptian.
Doctors suggest that the charges against them were the result of their suggesting that Ms Ahmed should leave India, where she has been receiving treatment free of charge, to return to Egypt.
In videos provided last week by Saifee Hospital, a visibly slimmer patient could be seen sitting up and smiling while listening to music.
Ms Ahmed's main doctor, Muffazal Lakdawala, wrote in an exclusive blog for NDTV.com that she used to blow kisses affectionately to hospital staff till recently. He said her changed attitude was possibly influenced by her sister.
Ms Ahmed had not left her home in Egypt's Mediterranean port city of Alexandria for two decades until she arrived in Mumbai. The funds for her travel and medical care were crowd-sourced.
The Egyptian has suffered several strokes and faced a series of other serious ailments owing to her weight including diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension and sleep deprivation. Mumbai doctors said there is not much more that can be done for her in terms of further weight loss and she would need to see a specialist neurologist to help with her other ailments.
