Munda top choice for Jharkhand CM?

There is still no consensus over who will be Jharkhand's new Chief Minister. Top BJP leaders held a series of meetings and reports suggest that the BJP may just accept a Chief Minister on rotation basis. This is something the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had suggested. BJP leaders have however, dismissed the possibility of Yashwant Sinha as Chief Minister. (Read: JMM agrees for BJP chief minister in Jharkhand)

Rajnath Singh and Ananth Kumar, BJP observers, have said that the majority of the party's Jharkhand MLAs want Arjun Munda to be Chief Minister.

Veteran leader L K Advani has left the decision to BJP president Nitin Gadkari.

JMM chief Shibu Soren wants BJP to lead the government for 28 months and then support a JMM Chief Minister for the remaining 28 months of the state Assembly. Both the JMM and the BJP have 18 seats each in the 82-member House. (Read:New government will be on rotational basis: Shibu Soren)

Ties between BJP and JMM had come under strain when Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren voted against BJP sponsored cut motions on April 27. BJP parliamentary Board had decided to withdraw support to Soren government but put it on hold when Shibu's son Hemant wrote a letter proposing a BJP-led government.
