Gorakhpur: An undertrial, lodged in jail in a murder case, today fled from the police custody from Sahjanwa area here while being taken to court for his hearing.
Rana Singh alias Chintu was being taken to a local court at Khalilabad by two policemen on motorcycle, which was intercepted by some armed persons in a jeep, Circle officer, Kampiyarganj, Lakshman Rai said.
They escaped with Singh, threatening the two constables, he said. The police has launched a manhunt to trace the undertrial.
