Nafisa Ali to contest from Lucknow for SP

Actor and activist Nafisa Ali will contest the Lok Sabha election from Lucknow on a Samajwadi Party ticket.

Actor-turned-politician and Samajwadi Party general secretary Sanjay Dutt will campaign for her during the election.

"Congress had alomost finalised Nafisa Ali's name for Lucknow. But I am honoured that when I asked Nafisa to contest the Lucknow seat on SP ticket instead of Sanjay Dutt, Nafisa said she believes in policies of Samajwadi Party. So she agreed to contest the Lucknow seat on SP ticket," said Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh reacting to the development.

Earlier, Sanjay Dutt was slated to contest from Lucknow on a SP ticket, but the Supreme Court barred him on the basis of his conviction.
