Hyderabad: Two engineers from Andhra Pradesh, who were reportedly kidnapped by suspected militants from Dimapur in Nagaland, were released on Tuesday evening.

The two men, Pratish Chandra from Vijayawada and Raghu from Nuzivid, were allegedly taken away on Sunday. A third man reportedly escaped.

Pratish was to take a train back home that day to see off his brother, who was going to the US.

His father told NDTV from Vijayawada that he had called from a borrowed mobile phone as was at a "jail" being run by rebels.

There are reports that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 20 crore, but Pratish's father said he was not aware of it.

The engineers were released on Tuesday evening, reportedly after some negotiations, details of which were not made public.
