Nagpur: From guarding water tanks, to being put on the suicide watch the Nagpur police are doing it all.
A day after Maharashtra's class XII results were announced the city police has taken to guarding Nagpur's three big lakes.
Their aim is to prevent students who have fared badly from jumping into them and committing suicide. Last year at least three students died this way.
"There is been a rise in suicides every year post results and this is an attempt deter students from taking the extreme step," said N D Ingole, an Inspector.
Though this is a novel initiative, the police action has got a mixed response from the city.
