Speaking out in support of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone, actor Nana Patekar said the threats to the cast and crew of Padmavati are "wrong and unacceptable".
Hitting out at protesters, he further said Padmavati is yet to release and nobody knows the content of the film.
Echoing Mr Patekar, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor spoke to news agency IANS and said, "I feel that (the release of) films in this democracy should not be curbed. My only relevant point which I totally agree with the filmmakers is that please see his film and then pass a comment. Without seeing the film, how can you agitate?"
However, Mr Kapoor refused to comment when prodded about the silence of certain sections of the film fraternity on the political intervention in cinema.
With protests against Padmavati refusing to die down and after the body of a young man was found hanging from a Jaipur fort, the producers deferred the film's release until 2018.
