Narayan Sai has been accused of raping a woman who lived at his father's ashram in Surat
Ludhiana:
Rape-accused Narayan Sai was, on Monday, brought to the ashram of his father, the self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, at the outskirts of the city as part of the investigation into the cases against him.
The Gujarat police team, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Surat) Mukesh Patel and Inspector M D Chaudhry visited the places where Sai had hidden when he was evading arrest.
Sai had stayed at the ashram as well as goshala which are part of the same management but located at different places, police sources said.
The investigating team also recorded the statements of two ashram staff - Paramanand and Arjun, the sources said.
Followers of Sai, including many women, gathered at the site and raised slogans in his support. They pleaded that the father-son duo were innocent and being framed.
Sai and two of his aides were arrested by Delhi Police on December 3 from Delhi-Haryana border.
Two Surat-based sisters have accused Sai and his father of rape. The elder sister has levelled allegations against Asaram and the younger sister against the son.
Asaram (72) is currently in a Jodhpur jail after being arrested in September for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl at his ashram there.
