Narayanan heads for Bengal; Saran, Menon contenders for NSA

New Delhi: National Security Adviser M K Narayanan is all set to become the West Bengal Governor. The Congress core group is meeting on Friday as the government finalises its list of Governors for seven states.

Narayanan is being considered the right man for Naxal-hit West Bengal with his vast experience in counter terrorism.

As for the post of National Security Adviser, the government is considering Shiv Shankar Menon and Shyam Saran, both former foreign secretaries.

Others in line for Governership are Shivraj Patil for Punjab, Urmilabhen Patel for Himachal Pradesh and Farooq Maraikair for Jharkhand.
