: He seemed skeptical on the intelligence and security revamp. Now former National Security Advisor M K Narayanan who took over as West Bengal Governor on Sunday said he is for a national counter terrorism centre. But he added that its role needs to be defined clearly.

He takes over from Gopalkrishna Gandhi who had a few run-ins with the CPM-ruled West Bengal on critical issues like violence in Nandigram and Singur.

For Narayanan too, it will be a tight-rope walk with Congress ally and the opposition leader in West Bengal Mamata Banerjee hitting out at the Left rule.

Narayanan's stint as security advisor should help as the state, which is threatened by increased Naxal violence.
