Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi expanded his cabinet on Friday with the induction of six new Ministers of State.
Noticeable among the new ministers are Jayesh Radadiya, son of former Congress MP Vithal Radadiya who switched over to the BJP during the run up to the state assembly polls last year.
Others who have been inducted as MoS are Vasan Ahir, Jaydrathsinh Parmar, Dilip Thakore, Jaswantsinh Bhabhor and Chhatrasinh Mori.
Insiders say that caste factor and political pressure from Patel strongman Vithal Radadiya are believed to have led to the expansion. The former Congress MP had been promised a ministerial berth for his son after he switched over. However, with the delay, Vithal was reportedly threatening to leave the BJP fold.
The expansion has also taken care of demands by Ahir, Rajput, Thakore and tribal communities.
