PM Modi Concludes 3-Nation Visit To Indonesia, Malaysia And Singapore: Highlights

Focusing on India's 'Act East' policy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore this week. Today is the last day of the final leg of PM Modi's 3-nation visit.

PM Modi was in Singapore as part of his 3-nation visit which also includes Indonesia and Malaysia

Singapore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a busy schedule on the last day of his visit to Singapore. He began the day by meeting the former premier of Singapore Goh Chok Tong. The two leaders then went to Clifford Pier, where he unveiled a plaque to commemorate the immersion of Mahatma Gandhi's ashes in the country's waters. In 1948, Mahatma Gandhi's ashes had been sent to various parts of India and the world. This included Singapore. After unveiling the plaque, Prime Minister Modi interacted with local representatives. PM Modi then called on the US Defense Minister, who is also in Singapore. The two leaders discussed ways to ensure freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific. PM Modi then visited the National Orchid Garden, before heading to the Sri Maramman Temple, Chuliya Mosque and the Buddha Relic Temple. The prime minister then visited the Indian Heritage Centre in Singapore's Little India district. Before concluding his tour, PM Modi also visited the Changi Naval Base, where he went on-board the Indian Navy's Shivalik class stealth frigate INS Satpura. He met and interacted with the officers and sailors on board. With this the prime minister will conclude his visit to Singapore.

During his visit to the Indian Heritage Centre in Singapore, Prime Minister Modi bought a painting using his RuPay card. Speaking about India's digital initiatives, the prime minister had mentioned that Singapore will now allow people to transact using the RuPay card. The prime minister had also spoken about India's UPI initiative for digital payments.
