Udaipur:
For the second time in two days, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi derided Rahul Gandhi, referring to him as 'shehzada' (prince).
"Shehzada held a rally here few days ago. Did anyone understand what he said, why he said," Mr Modi said in a rally in Udaipur.
"When he should be talking about people's welfare, family serials are being run," he added. Mr Gandhi in his recent rallies in election-bound states had spoken about emotional memories of his grandmother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and father, Rajiv Gandhi, accusing the BJP of divisive politics.
Mr Modi also lashed out at the Congress government in Rajasthan, headed by Ashok Gehlot. He said Vasundhara Raje, who is the BJP's chief ministerial candidate in Rajasthan, had brought uninterrupted electricity to the state during her tenure, but Mr Gehlot's government that came into power in 2009 has 'taken the state into darkness'.
"Even the Shehzaada doesn't trust Ashok Gehlot. Why should you," the Gujarat Chief Minister said.
Blaming the Congress for inflation, Mr Modi said, "Under Atal Bihari Vajpayee's regime diesel was Rs 22 a litre, now it has crossed Rs 60. The Congress should be telling the public what it has done in five years. But instead they are blaming the BJP."
He also accused the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of inaction in the coal block allocation case which has has engulfed the Centre with the BJP demanding Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation.
"Had such allegations been levelled against Vasundhara, Narendra Modi, Shivraj Singh or Raman Singh, the CBI would have put us behind bars within minutes. But CBI is frozen as if it has seen a snake," Mr Modi said.
